Shibir activists vandalize 10 vehicles in Narayanganj

Activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, vandalized at least 10 vehicles here on Thursday morning during 24-hour hartal.

They, however, were also seen locked into clashes with police at that time after which the law enforcers detained one of them.

They made the rampage at the early hours of hartal, enforced by Jamaat protesting Supreme Court appeal verdict that sentenced Delawar Hossain Sayedee to imprisonment unto death for war crimes.

Khaleda’s B’baria rally now Sep 23

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s rally in Brahmanbaria district, which was scheduled to be held on September 22, has been rescheduled.

The rally will now be held on September 23, says a party press release on Thursday.

The release signed by BNP assistant-office secretary Asadul Karim Shahin added the venue and time of the rally will remain unchanged.

Jamaat-shibir’s demo, vandalism in Sylhet

Leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its students’ wings Islami Chattra Shibir brought out brisk processions, vandalized vehicles here on Thursday morning moments after a 24-hour hartal commenced.

The party enforced a countrywide 24-hour hartal beginning from 600am Thursday protesting Supreme Court verdict that sentenced its Naib-e-Amir Delawar Hossain Sayedee to imprisonment unto death for war crimes.

Witnesses said Shibir men brought out precession in Ambarkhana area of the metropolitan around 630am and vandalized at least four trucks, parked beside roads, there.

KSA West Zone Juba Dal Leader killed

A Juba Dal leader was killed in a road accident in Al Atif area of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified General Enam Ahmed, 40, hailed from Brahmanpara upazila of Comilla district, also Secretary of Saudi Arabia (West Zone) Juba Dal central committee.

Sources said Enam Ahmed was killed in a road accident in the area on his way to Riyadh from Jeddah.

Khaleda’s plea rejected Lawyers’ scuffle disrupts trial

Lawyers of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) involved in scuffles on the premises of the judicial court that create deadlock in trial procedure on Wednesday noon.

The scuffles took place after the hearing of the appeal for rescheduling the date of deposition submission of BNP chief Khaleda Zia and others in the two cases of money embezzlement.

Earlier, makeshift court of 3rd special judge Basudev Roy, set-up on the premises of Dhaka Alia Madrasa ground in city’s Bakshibazar area, fixed Wednesday as the date of deposition.
