Sonali Bank sues Paragon Group

Sonali Bank filed a money loan case against Paragon Printing and Packaging Limited for realizing around TK 8-crore.

On behalf of the Sonali Bank, its executive officer Abdus Salam filed the case with money loan court at 1100am Thursday.

After filing the case, he told that Paragon is one the six organizations which were involved in loan scam of Hallmark, largest one of the country’s history.

11 Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) get CIP cards

Eleven Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) have received Commercially Important Persons (CIP) cards for their outstanding contribution to the country’s economy.

Expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain handed over the cards to 10 of them at a ceremony at the ministry conference room on Thursday.

Ministry secretary Dr Khandakar Shawkat Hossain and other high-officials, among others, were present at the event.

SA Chowdhury new Janata Bank chairman

Government has appointed Sirajuddin Ahmed Chowdhury as new chairman and director of directorial body of Janata Bank Limited for next five years.

The Bank and Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance issued a circular on Wednesday some eight days after the post fell vacant.

The circular asked the bank’s chief executive officer and the managing director (MD) to take necessary measures in this regard according to the Bank Company (Amendment) Act, 2013.

Social Business Design Lab to create entrepreneurs

The 30th Social Business Design Lab took place on September 17 at the Grameen Bank Auditorium. 

Over 120 participants and observers from national and international organizations with diverse background attended the program.

The Design Lab was chaired by Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus.

Indian textile expo from Sept 29

A two-day international textile exposition titled ‘Indian Textile Exhibition-INTEXPO Bangladesh’ will begin at Sonargaon Hotel in the city from September 29.

The Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC), an apex body of man-made fiber (MMF) textile manufacturers and exporters in India, will organized the exhibition in association with Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI), Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) are providing supports to the event.
